    Description

WW1 2nd Division Painted Helmet Indian Division Out Of The Woodwork Rare Salty. Estate find early this year out of a Carpinteria California estate, seller had it in his attic since the 1970s. Thier neighbor was a decorated WW1 2nd Inf veteran All he could remember was they all called him old man Stafford and he had moved away and passed in the 80s or 90s. Aside from that the seller said he had forgotten most of the anything else he knew due to it being almost 50 years he had hung onto the helmet. The helmet is salty years of the dry california climate really did a number on the paint. Painted second divison insignia is still visible on the helmet. No liner present. It is what i would call salty but it is a survivor no doubt! WW1 items like this just arent coming out of the woodwork most WW1 veterans have been gone since the 80s and since then a lot of the items have been sold and resold. This is a true woodwork find and a salty survivor. I had meant to keep this for myself but some personal life changes have made me deicde to move it along to the next owner! I really love this piece i know the price is high but i think its right for such a nice helmet.
Backing color of the indian appears to have been a light blue or something along those lines!
