Up for sale...An
IDENTIFIED WWI U.S. 1917 model, CAMOFLAGED DOUGHBOY HELMET.  The inscription on the underside of the rim is difficult to read.  Included is a piece of paper found folded in the bail with what the last owner believes is written on the rim.  The helmet paint is textured with sawdust to help prevent glare.  The 4 color camoflage paint has a nice aged look, and none of the helmet fluoresces under black light.  It is stamped "178 ZD" on the underside of the rim, near the edge seam.  Although somewhat rough there is a remaining remnant of the instruction tag, much of the oil cloth, leather, and netting.  The wool felt has sustained damage, probably due to moths.
