    General Radio 940-series Decade Inductor Units are convenient components for use in filters and tuned circuits throughout the audio and RF range. As moderately precise standards of inductance they have values of low-frequency storage factor Q which are much larger than can be obtained with air-cored coils.  Toroidal construction practically eliminates any external magnetic field and makes it possible to stack the coils closely without errors from mutual inductance. Although these units are not meant to be used as inductance standards their values are generally within 1-2% and sometimes better depending on the range.
